Birling Gap

East Dean Village Green and Church Green

Managed by: The Gilbert Estate. The main village green is in the old village of East Dean, and there is a small additional green outside East Dean church, not far away. There are plenty of facilities around it: the Tiger Inn, the Hikers Rest café, a deli café, a Thai restaurant, and some holiday cottages. It is possible to walk on safe paths all the way to the coast at Birling Gap and Beachy Head.
The Greensward Village Green

Managed by: East Dean Greensward Co. Ltd. This is an open green space in the middle of the Downlands residential estate. There are no facilities on site apart from some public seats.
Adam’s Field Park

Boothland Wood

A lovely 5 hectare site acquired by the Town Council in 1991. It is an ancient semi-natural woodland containing a variety of venerable oak trees and coppiced species including hornbeam, hazel and ash.
Bridge Farm Wood

This small piece of mixed woodland can be found alongside the old railway line. There are a number of informal stone pathways which run through the site. Access is from Bridge Farm Road.
